Eri Shimatsuka is a transplanted Japanese Textile designer who has been based in Helsinki since 2007. Eri studied at Aalto University and has worked as a designer at Marimekko’s Art Work Studio. Aalto University is located in Espoo, Finland and is a learning center where “science and art meet technology and business.” Working as a freelance designer since 2014, she has become very popular throughout Finland and Japan.
Eri uses nature and the joy found in daily life as her inspiration. Her work has introduced Lapuan Kankurit to the Japanese market as an editor and writer and she has recently joined their design team.
