Design legend Kaj Franck's TEEMA proves to be as groundbreaking today as it was when it was created decades ago. This fall IITTALA introduces the Nordic icon in "honey" color.

The new honey color is a warm and tranquil shade that takes thoughts to crisp fall mornings when sunshine flickers through the leaves and colors the world with warm tones. Honey color is an elegant addition to TEEMA collection and perfect on its own or combined with other TEEMA colors. 

Striking the perfect balance

Legendary Finnish designer Kaj Franck's dinner set, TEEMA (a successor of KILTA, 1952), is an icon of minimalistic Nordic design. By combining simple yet sculptural from with function and versatility. Franck created a groundbreaking series a decade ago that set a new standard for tableware that continues to be respected and cherished today. 

Franck grew up in a world with elaborate dining services to sparse stone dishes and sought to find more accessible medium between the two extremes. His solution to produce versatile, practical dishwater at a reasonable price. Franck's quest led hime to create hundreds of everyday pieces with Iittala but it was finally with TEEMA that he created a series that embodied his values. 

A circle, square or a triangle

Franck created TEEMA piece by piece using the simple design philosophy that every dish derived from the most basic shape: a circle, square or triangle. With elaborate hand drawings and meticulous calculations, Franck planned his series right down to the smallest detail. Determined to keep with his vision, Franck's TEEMA featured tableware that was multifunctional, stackable, durable and versatile enough for everyday as well as festive moments.

Color is all you need

A vivid yet soft "honey" tone combines perfectly with white or powder color and enlivens any table setting with its pleasant shade. Honey is launched in a mug (10oz), dinner plate (10.25"), salad plate (8.5"), bread & butter plate (6.75"), soup/cereal bowl (16 oz) and a pasta bowl (29 oz). One of Franck's famous declarations was that "color is the only decoration needed for everyday items." His rich color world stands in a class of its own and TEEMA provides unlimited possibilities to create the right atmosphere for any occasion.
