Aino-Maija Metsola is a visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland, graduating from the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 2008.
Aino is popular for using a wide selection of techniques from watercolor to ink, markers and gouache to craft paintings. Her patterns and illustrations are found in textiles, clothing, tableware, stationery and books. Currently, she is focusing on painting.
Her works have been featured in publications and exhibitions around the world. She has received the V & A Illustration Award for Best Book Cover Design as well as the Finlandia Junior award for Finnish children’s literature. Her children’s books were produced in collaboration with Wide Eyed Editions UK and have been published in 21 languages.
Aino-Maija has designed various patterns for Marimekko, including the recent KETUNMARJA pattern.
