Lovi is a family-run company based in Northern Finland. It produces flat packed, 3D figures from wood, designed and patented by Anne Paso. All the products are 100% made in Finland from the highest Finnish quality birch plywood, certified by the Program for the Endorsement of the Forest Certification (PEFC). The PEFC is the world's largest forest certification system seeking to transform the way forests are managed globally – and locally - to ensure that all of us can enjoy the environmental, social and economic benefits that forests offer. Wood is one of the nature's finest and most versatile renewable materials. Threes take care of us by taking carbon and releasing oxygen into the air. At the same time they help prevent global warming. PEFC certification also guarantees that new trees are replanted right after felling. Today, northern forests are growing at a faster rate than they are felled.
All the Lovi products are assembled by hand without any tools. The smallest Lovi products are envelope size and easy to send and mail, for example, as a gift! Slotting cleverly together, the beautiful Lovi shapes provide a sense of wonder as they take shape and come alive. All with the added satisfaction of allowing you to working with your hands.
Lovi got started in 2001 when Anne Paso wanted to create a wooden bauble for Christmas trees as an alternative to plastic ones. The very first version was a stick with veneer pieces glued to it. She quickly realized that it should be like a 3D puzzle, so that the end user is the one who has the satisfaction of putting it together. A new type of joint made the idea realizable as the pieces slot easily together. The package was then given a postcard-like label, and the product was ready to be sent. The very first samples were sent as season’s greetings all around the world in 2003. Inspired by an encouraging start, she continues to design new creations for the Lovi collection.
