Heikki Orvola's (b.1943) career started in the 1960's and he has been a driving force of Finnish design. His beautiful designs are used by Finns every day, who drink coffee from his cups, eat with this tableware and celebrate life's important moments with his glassware. Heikki is an award-winning designer who works in a variety of materials including glass, ceramics, cast iron, enamel and even textiles. In 2002, Orvola was awarded the honorary title of "Professor" by the President of Finland for his achievements in design. He has also received many other awards for this innovative work, including Design Plus and the Kaj Franck Design Prize. Heikki has a long history of collaborating his creativity with Iittala that has resulted in many of their signature pieces including the Kivi candleholder, the Carambola vase and the Aika series.
In 2020, Iittala has relaunched the nature inspired Miranda collection designed in 1971 by Heikki Orvola.
